Working with us

Join an international crew tackling unusual challenges to be the first in the world to bring autophage propulsion to life. Humility and respect of each other’s work are our two keywords to achieve our goals. For any member of the team, autonomy and ownership is more than encouraged, it is expected. Consistently with this approach, we are seeking collaborators who are open to continue with a permanent position. If you’re a doer who thrives on challenges, you’ll fit right in.

Your missions

You will take a key position as Systems Engineer, with the responsibility of managing OPAL’s requirements from the needs of our stakeholders (UK Space Agency, Thales Alenia Space, CNES and others) to the implementation by our engineering team. You will join a fast evolving project and you will engage in all development activities from preliminary design to testing your physical system architecture, working closely with the Chief Product Officer and the Product Assurance Manager. Your missions will include:

  • Contribute to system architecture development using Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools, especially Capella.
  • Build the requirements tree and manage system and subsystem requirements as well as interfaces with the spacecraft and space environment.
  • Support system-level trade-offs, performance budgets, and interface definition.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to ensure design compliance with environmental, mission constraints, and performance objectives.
  • Adapt your approach to change and maintain requirements in an Agile development method.
  • Assist in defining test plans, including functional, environmental, and acceptance testing strategies.
  • Gain hands-on exposure to full spacecraft system integration, including fluidics, structures, avionics and thermal.

Your profile

  • Enrolled in the last year of master’s degree or engineering school, you demonstrate a high academic level and knowledge of the domain of propulsion and/or systems engineering and you wish to apply your skills in hands-on real world problems.
  • Creative, curious and independent, you take pride in seeing the fruits of your labour.
  • You have practical experience with the engineering methods mentioned, and you wish to shape the next generation of space transportation.
  • You possess a professional level of English. Knowledge of the local language (French or Italian) will be recognised.
