Alpha Impulsion is pioneering the autophage rocket engine to propel the next generation of light launchers. Since 2022, our growing team of 17 based in Toulouse and Turin is leveraging Europe’s aerospace expertise to drastically lower rocket costs and deliver more efficient launch solutions for small satellites. We’re reinventing rocketry. The Autophage engine is a completely new take on space launchers propulsion. By using its own structure as fuel, our system enhances launch efficiency, reduces waste, and enables more flexible and cost-effective satellite deployments.

Reengineering rockets from the ground up does not happen overnight. We design and assemble everything in-house, and if testing does not work, we learn, adapt and start anew. Each failure is a valuable lesson that brings us on step closer to launch.

Alpha Impulsion has received strong support from CNES and interest from other European space agencies. Started in 2023, the AMBRE program aims to demonstrate the flight of an autophage rocket on a small-scale autophage rocket (1kN of thrust). Design and manufacturing are complete, and engine testing is currently ongoing, paving the way for the flight of the first autophage rocket in early 2025. Alpha Impulsion has raised close to 1M€ from public and private sources, and development is already underway on our first orbital launcher: GRENAT.
